The task was to create a Speed Form inspired by a non-automobile-related brand. I chose the iconic sportswear brand Nike, focusing on their Air Max 97, a footwear known for its innovative design and aesthetics inspired by movement.

The Air Max 97 is distinguished by its undulating shape that repeats around the shoe, creating a unique pattern. This design is inspired by Japan's bullet trains, reflecting speed and movement.

The Speed Form becomes a sculptural exploration of the Air Max 97's aesthetics. It captures the fluidity and dynamism of the design, using undulating lines to reflect movement.

Upon recognizing the morphological similarities between the Speed Form and a jet ski, I chose to capture this connection in a small conceptual art piece. Here, I translate the shape of the speed form into a more tangible and less abstract object.

I worked on this project during my third year in the industrial design program, for the morphology class. It was a challenge to create a Speed Form that wasn't tied to aquatic life or the automotive industry.

Still, I'm really happy with how it turned out because it perfectly captures the essence of Nike shoes. I even snuck in some references to their logo and the shoe shapes throughout the whole model.
